Lisa Keeps Men Away on The Today Show

I made this sandwich board for an art exhibition on Chastity Belts, and wore it in a fashion show for the exhibition.

I was single at the time, and I felt men were afraid of dating a woman in her 30s because she’d want to have kids, so that was my inspiration.

I was a big fan of The Today Show, so I thought it would be fun to try to get on with my sandwich board. It worked out perfectly: I arrived very early before work because I was worried people from my ad agency might see me. They either didn’t see it or never mentioned it, and I didn’t bring it up. Though my mother called me later and said, “Mrs. Silverburg called me and said you were on TV. She asked, ‘Is Lisa really that desperate?’”
